The 2023 UWA Convocation Autumn Ordinary Meeting will be held online, in person, and livestreamed on Thursday 23 March 2023 at 6.30pm (AWST)

All UWA graduates and other members of Convocation are invited to attend the Autumn Ordinary Meeting in the UWA Indian Ocean Marine Research Centre on Fairway (UWA Crawley campus) on Thursday 23 March 2023 at 6.00 pm for a 6.30 pm start.

The guest speaker for the evening, Professor Emerita Dr Jane den Hollander AO, BSc (Hons) MSc Wits, PhD Card, Hon Doc Deakin, Hon Doc Card will give a talk on

“Where to from here: In a world recovering from a pandemic, living in a region where our largest trading partner has hit peak population growth and in a State where every aspect of climate change is confronting, what is our purpose as educators and do these clouds we confront have silver linings?”

Professor Jane den Hollander AO was Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University 2010 until retirement in 2019 and Interim Vice-Chancellor, University of Western Australia between March and July 2020.  Her doctoral degree is from Cardiff University, Wales (1981).

In 2017 Jane received an Order of Australia for distinguished service to tertiary education; in 2018 she was awarded the Business Higher Education Round Table (BHERT) Ashley Goldsworthy medal for individual leadership and in 2019 was named in the Victorian Honour Roll for Women. In 2020 Jane received the Australian Financial Review 2020 Higher Education Lifetime Achievement Award.
