On Saturday the 2nd of November, Convocation held its annual 50th reunion luncheon. This year, the graduates of 1969 celebrated together at The University Club. Walking tours in the glorious sunshine showed the history of UWA and the many changes that have been made since our graduates studied here five decades ago.

Guest speakers included the Student Guild President of 1969 Sue Boyd, Chairman of Friends of UWA (UK and Europe) David MacKinlay, former Premier of WA Carmen Lawrence, and Acting Chief Advancement Officer Fiona Allan.

Three dancers from Dance UWA performed a lively dance routine and Winthrop Singers treated the audience to an acapella medley of songs of the era.

A quiz challenged the guests’ knowledge and memory, and prior to the luncheon there was a display of memorabilia including some delightful photos of 1969, as well as two historical graduation caps and gowns.

The almost 150 guests had opportunities to mingle and reminisce with one another, as well as to take home a commemorative booklet, which compiled memories and biographies of the graduating class of 1969.
