UWA EZone Engineering Winner for the Engineering Profession and Students

2020 saw the opening of UWA EZone to engineering students. Not only is it a progressive space for collaboration it is also a testament to engineering, as EZone was recently awarded the Engineers Australia Excellence in Engineering Award for WA. The EZone consists of two buildings in the engineering precinct, opening on to Fairway as one of UWA's main entrances.

The real engineering behind the buildings itself are the structural challenges with floating stairs, wide spans requiring specialised bespoke trusses and concrete tensioning with the bridge between the two buildings. The buildings are alive with approximately 180 sensors for measuring data, a weather station, a 3D model and soundbox of the building to allow testing and building experimentation. The EZone is equipped with future solar power extension provision, electric vehicle charging and industrial collaboration with robotics, hydrodynamic, thermodynamic and structural laboratories. The EZone is the place to be to learn, collaborate and experiment. Congratulations UWA.
