Vale Professor Chemmangot (Chem) Velayudhan Nayar

Professor Chemmangot (Chem) Velayudhan Nayar, CEO of Regen Power and Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering Curtin University, passed away on the 16th September due to cancer, for which he had been receiving treatment a few weeks.
Vale Professor Chemmangot (Chem) Velayudhan Nayar– a distinguished Convocation Member
Professor Chemmangot (Chem) Velayudhan Nayar, CEO of Regen Power and Emeritus Professor of Electrical Engineering Curtin University, passed away on the 16th September due to cancer, for which he had been receiving treatment a few weeks.
He graduated with a PhD in electrical engineering from UWA in 1985. His thesis title was “Development of an electrical generation scheme using wind energy”. Chem received many awards and accolades including being one of the finalists for the WA Australian of the Year 2021.
He has made significant contribution to WA’s economy and engineering and has supervised several students for PhD and Masters. Globally he was a well-respected renewable energy and electrical engineer.
Chem is survived by his wife Ambika Nayar and his children and grandchildren. May Chem rest in peace
